Legionella’s Decision
It was late morning before Legionella finally worked up the courage to call her Uncle Bacillus and ask him to come by. Her hand shook slightly as she dialed the familiar phone number.
“Hwello.”
Legionella did a quick mental run down of her countless cousins and decided this had to be Codon, “Codon, its cousin Ella. Is your daddy home?”
“Daddy home!”
“Can you take the phone to him so I can talk to him?”
“Daddy home!”
Legionella sighed deeply. As much as she loved kids and her cousins she was not keen on dealing with an unruly three year old was the last thing she wanted to have to worry about. Fortunately, her aunt rescued her.
“Hello?”
“Aunt Mallory. It’s Legionella.”
“Sorry about Codon. He’s suddenly become quite engrossed by the phone.”
Legionella really didn’t care at this point in time. “Its no problem,” she lied. “Could I please speak with Uncle Bacillus?”
“Sure, I’ll go get him. Is everything all right?”
“Um, yeah, everything is fine.”
Legionella stared at her bare feet while she waited for her uncle to come to the phone. It felt like an eternity.
“Ella, how are you?”
“I’ll be honest with you Uncle Bacillus, I’ve been better.”
She could tell her uncle was quite shocked by her response, “Oh?”
“I need you to come here. There is something I have to talk to you about.”
“What?” Although he thought he knew.
“I need to talk to you about my mother and Gordon King.”
Bacillus was quiet for a few moments before saying, “I’m on my way.”
It was only a half hour drive from Legacy Valley to Sim State but Legionella felt like it was hours. When her uncle climbed out of his car she didn’t waste any time or mince words she walked right up to him and said, “Tell me what happened.”
Bacillus didn’t hesitate. He told Legionella everything. From how Yersinia had met Gordon to how she had stopped speaking to him to his catching Gordon in the act. Legionella stood with tears silently streaming down her face as she listened to her uncle recall the skeletons of his past.

When he had finished, Legionella said, “Why didn’t she tell me?”
“Your mother and I made a pact that night. We would speak of this to no one. Mallory knew because she was with me and later I believe your mother told your father. Gordon went to prison, he was killed there and that was the end of it.”
“But it’s not the end of it! I’m in love with his son!”
“I trust the son is different from the father.”
“Very different.”
“Ella, this secret has been tearing our family apart for years. Your mother and I never told our sister. Sella was so upset by our betrayal that it led to her suicide. It is time that the secret is out and we can finally get past it. I’m sorry. Ideally your mother would have told you but she never got the opportunity.”
Understanding suddenly slammed home for Legionella. Her mother had seemed so upset about her time with Gordon because she thought her Gordon was the Gordon who had raped her, “Oh! Uncle Bacillus! I killed my mother!”
“What? NO! No. Don’t even think that. Your mother’s suicide had to do with demons from her past and your father’s betrayal. You were the light of your mother’s eye. Don’t ever think you caused her death!”
Legionella nodded.
“What are you going to do about your Gordon?”
Legionella looked in her uncle’s deep blue eyes the same eyes her mother had, the same eyes she had, “The right thing.”
Bacillus smiled and left his niece with the truth about her mother.

Awww, well I’m glad for Legionella and I am so glad this family secret is out. If Ella and Gordon got through this ok, they can get through anything. Maybe now we can have closure on this whole traumatic incident in the family’s past and get on with life. Can’t wait to see the wedding!

This is a very nice and sweet end to a tragic story. I hope Ella and Gordon will live happily ever after. BTW, Ella is a beautiful sim.

I am so glad Ella didn’t hold Gordon responsible for the sins of his father, no matter how closely it tied in with her own family. And I’m glad to see her uncle decided it was enough with hiding it away like some shameful thing, especially since his sister hadn’t done anything wrong. And congrats on getting the burglar into your legacy line!
