Wasting No Time

At the main legacy house: Prof. Xavier - Professor - Romance - Perma. Plat; Listeria - 3rd Generation “spare heir” - Grow-Up

His wife was dead and in all truth it was his fault. But that did not seem to bother Xavier too much. Sure he was sad that Yersinia had ventured too close to that cowplant, where had that thing come from anyway. But he was enjoying Marylena. Marylena could provide for him in ways that Yersinia never could. And sure he was sad Legionella had left in such an outrage and went to college early but he knew she would be leaving soon anyway.

Xavier may not have been the best husband to Yersinia or the best father to Legionella (what father tries to buy off his daughter?) but he was determined to be a good father to his one remaining daughter, Listeria. Now Listeria was getting older and she had no idea what had happened between Xavier and her mother. She thought her mother had died in a tragic accident and Legionella was just bored with school so she went to college early. Xavier wanted to keep it that way. So he devoted lots of time to his youngest daughter.

He helped her with her homework and took time teaching her a good technique for punching the punching bag.

Listeria loved all the time her father was spending with her. It made things easier on her with her mom gone now. She had never had this much attention since she did have an older sister who had always overshadowed her. Listeria missed her mom very much. She would often break down crying over her mother’s unexpected death. She did not understand what had happened and did not understand why no one was willing to tell her much of what was going on. It frutrated her more than anything.

One afternoon Xavier made grilled cheese sandwiches for himself and Listeria for lunch. Listeria was so excited because grilled cheese was her absolute favorite lunch and it had been a long time since anyone had made her one. She wondered what the occasion was. She would soon find out. After she sat down at the table with Xavier he started to speak with her.
“Now, Listeria, you know that mommy has gone away.”
Listeria nodded although she did not understand why everyone insisted on talking to her like she was five. She was twelve, almost thirteen. She could understand things, if only people would tell her what was going on.
“Daddy still loves mommy but sometime daddies need friends.”
“Dad, is this about that lady who keeps coming around?”
Xavier was shocked. He didn’t think Listeria had any idea about his relationship with Marylena. “Well, yes.”
“Why does she keep coming over here?”
“Her name is Marylena and she is a friend of mine from work.”
Suddenly, Xavier was actually talking to Listeria like she was a person.
Listeria thought about this for a moment before saying, “I don’t like her.”
“Listeria! You don’t even know her. Give her a chance.”
“Okay but I’m not sure that I’ll like her.”

Xavier felt much more comfortable bringing Marylena around now that he had spoken with Listeria about her. Of course he failed to notice that Listeria was not any too excited about her coming around more. In fact Listeria was quite upset when Xavier told her Marylena would be coming to her birthday party. She didn’t want this woman, who seemed to be trying to replace her mother, at her party. The only people she wanted there were her mom and sister but her mom would never see another one of her birthdays and Legionella was not speaking to their father. She sent Listeria a gift and a card apologizing for her absence. Listeria didn’t understand why Legionella wasn’t talking to her father but when she asked she was never given any answer. So it was with much frustration that Listeria became a teenager.

Listeria decided to try and compensate for her broken family by aspiring to have a good family of her own (Simmer’s Note: Listeria’s aspiration is family and her LTW is blank and I can’t seem to get it to roll up. I’m going to do change it with the aspiration changer and then change it back to see if I can fix it but her score was too low to do so.). Listeria also decided that now that she was a teenager it was time for a new look. She had to admit that part of her reasoning for a new look was to shock her father.

But it didn’t work. Xavier was too taken by his newly unhindered relationship with Marylena Hamilton. In fact, Xavier asked her to move in with him. (Marylena Hamilton - Townie - Family - Have 6 Grandkids - Cancer (6-3-6-4-6) - Stink and Fitness - Custom Hair) Xavier never asked Listeria what she thought of this.

Listeria was outraged. She could not believe her father would bring another woman into her mother’s house so soon after her death. When Marylena told her she should cut back on the amount of make-up she wore, Listeria lost it. She was getting a drink of water at the time and turned and threw the water into Marylena’s face. “How dare you tell me what is wrong and right! You shouldn’t be here! You will never replace my mother!”

Listeria stormed out of the kitchen and went into her room and locked the door. She really wished she could join Legionella at Sim State University. But she was only just finishing her freshman year of high school she knew there was no way she would be able to go to college. She would have to put up with this woman in her house for now.

  2. You get her Listeria! Sorry but that was a very rude remark on Marylena’s part! She should know better than to invade! I hope Xavier and his cruddy girlfriend are gobbled up by the cowplant! Yeesh! And if nobody tells Listeria what’s going on then this could end up like Francisella’s story! Not pretty…Brrr…

  5. Holy cow! The nerve of that woman to comment on Listeria’s appearance while she’s in her underwear! Way to go, Listeria! And I love her new look! Love the hair. =)
