Bacter Family Saga

At The House on Crumplebottom Drive

At the house on Crumplebottom Drive: Michelle Kearney- Store Clerk - Knowledge - Max 7 Skills; Legionella Bacter - 3rd generation heiress to main house - Fortune - Earn 100K

Legionella was devastated by the loss of her mother. She felt so guilty. She felt like it was her fault that her mom was dead. She felt that if she has just told her mom what she knew about her dad this never would have happened. Legionella went through her mother’s funeral like a zombie. She just nodded at people delivered platitude after platitude. She was numb to the whole experience. After it was all over, Yersinia Bacter’s body was laid to rest in the family cemetary next to those of her parents.

After the funeral was over, Legionella just couldn’t take being in that house any more. She packed her bags, called a cab and left for Sim State University early. She had made arrangements with the headmaster of her school to get her high school diploma a bit early so she could head out. Xavier tried to stop her but he knew his attmpts were worthless. He knew that he was at fault for driving out his eldest daughter.

Legionella moved into the house on Crumplebottom Drive with her cousin Cell’s fiance, Michelle Kearney. She had met Michelle at her mother’s funeral and Michelle had offered her a room in the house. Legionella accepted and moved in with Michelle at college.

Legionella found herself having difficulty adjusting to life at college. She was a little young and was having a hard time making friends. Fortunately, she had Michelle and her friend, Gordon King Jr. Soon, Calla LeTourneau (daughter of River Goss and Brandi LeTourneau…you remember River, he was Erin Davis’s husband) moved into the house with Legionella and Michelle. Calla was a little on the wild side so unfortunately Legionella didn’t get along with her the best.

Legionella decided that it was time to choose a major. Maybe once she had done that it would be easier to make friends. After all the people in her classes would have at least one thing in common with her. So Legionella sat down at the computer to review all her options for majors. She decided on Economics since she did want to earn a lot of money one day.

Shortly after Calla moved in, Legionella’s cousin, Cillia moved into the house. Cillia had decided that she wanted to get to know her future sister-in-law better so she was heading off to college to live with Michelle, Legionella and Calla.

Cillia was a little disappointed to find out that Michelle had changed her life’s aspiration at her sophomore to junior year transition. Michelle had given up her pursuit of knowledge and decided to pursue a life of pleasure. She had changed her major from Physics to Art and had aspirations of becoming a professional party guest. Cillia was not too pleased to think that this was the woman who would be marrying her brother. She had seemed so down to earth before but now things had changed.

Cillia was determined not to resort to Michelle’s ways. Sure Cillia wanted to be popular but she also wanted a career. She wanted to be mayor of Legacy Valley some day and so she immediately set out to declare her major as political science and she also started her first term paper immediately after getting home from class with the assignment. Michelle and Legionella were quite impressed with Cillia’s work ethic although they were both hard pressed to mimic it entirely.

While Cillia was busily keeping her grades up, Legionella had her first date with Gordon King Jr. Since she had gone to college she and Gordon decided to take things up a level. So they headed downtown to FM for their date. The date started with dinner. Gordon took over and did the ordering for both of them. Legionella had never been to FM before but Gordon had come their quite often: “Do you trust me?” he asked Legionella.
She looked at him, “Of course I trust you.”
“Then let me order for you.”
“What? How do you know what I like?”
“I just have a feeling. Let me order for you.”
Legionella was a bit of a picky eater so she was a little hesitant to let Gordon order for her but finally she conceded. When the waitress came Gordon placed both their orders but Legionella never heard what he ordered. She had to admit that she was certainly feeling nervous about it.

When their food came Gordon had lobster. Legionella was afraid that he had ordered her lobster and she did not like lobster. But it turned out that he had ordered Legionella pork chops. (Simmer’s Note: I don’t actually remember what Legionella ate but it looks kind of like pork chops to me so let’s just pretend that it is.) Legionella was shocked, “Pork chops! They are my favorite! How did you know?”
Gordon just smiled at her, “I just knew.”
Legionella was so touched and found it to be oddly romantic. But she tried to remind herself that Gordon was still her friend. Sure they were on a date but that didn’t mean anything.

Now, one of the things Legionella didn’t know about FM was that it was famous for it’s karoke. After dinner, Gordon grabbed Legionella by the wrist and drug her upstairs to one of the karoke machines. He grabbed a microphone and held it out for her, “Come on, sing with me.”
“Oh no,” Legionella protested, “I’m an awful singer.”
“I don’t care. C’mon, it’ll be fun.”
Finally, Legionella gave in and took the microphone from him. Gordon picked up the other mike and got a song rolling on the machine. Legionella smiled when he started to play “Cholrinating Car Pools” by the Reticulated Splines. It was her favorite song and she could resist singing the lyrics as loud as she could with him.

When the song was over, Legionella had to admit that it had been a lot of fun. But soon it was her turn to grab Gordon. She hauled him off to the photo booth and they had their pictures taken. They debated over whether or not to be goofy but in the end decided just to take some regular shots. They could always do goofy shots later.

When the date was over, Gordon pulled Legionella to her and gave her a kiss. But this was not just any kiss, it was Legionella’s first kiss. Legionella thought she must have been seeing things but she swore she saw little pink and red hearts floating around them as they kissed gently. One thing she was sure of was that she felt like she was floating on air. Even after they had stopped kissing she felt like she was floating. In fact, Legionella went home, still feeling as if she was floating.

After she returned home from her date Legionella was surprised to find that they had a new member to their house. A friend of Calla’s from high school (Legionella and Cillia knew her as well), Marsha Bruenig (Townie - Virgo - Knowledge - Become Chief of Staff - Turn Ons: Glasses and Blonde Hair, Turn Offs: Hats) had moved in. Suddenly their house was quite full.

Now, Cillia had seen all the other girls in the house have dates and she decided that she needed a date as well. The only problem was there was no one that she knew that she wanted to on a date with. She remembered her sister, Chondria, calling a gypsy to set her up with a date so Cillia decided to give it a try. So, Cillia called up Lilly Mendoza, one of the Sim State gypsies and told her she would like to be set up with a blind date.

After chatting with Cillia for a little bit Lilly gazed into her crystal ball to see what man would tickle Cillia’s fancy.

“The man of your dreams will be of fair complextion, hair of straw. He will be devoted to education and dress in tweed. Shala-kazaam, shala-kazoo, here comes the man for you.”
The next thing Cillia knew, Professor Elmer Garrett appeared.

Cilla was somewhat attracted to him so she decided, what the heck. So she borrowed Michelle’s car and she and Elmer headed downtown on a blind date.

Cillia and Elmer (why do these professors always have such awful names?) went to the One Twenty-Five Cafe. It was a quiet and quaint little place that would be the perfect place for them to get to know each other. It turned out that they only had time for dinner before Elmer had to be back at campus to teach a class. But there was opportunity for Cillia and Elmer to flirt some. Cillia was even so bold as to feed Elmer a bite of her dinner.

When the date was over they both agreed that it had been a good time and perhaps they would meet up again. Elmer gave Cillia a friendly hug good-bye and Cillia drove back to the house on Crumplebottom Drive thinking that perhaps the gypsy was wrong about Elmer being the man of her dreams.

When she got back home her brother, Cell, was over visiting Michelle and the three of them sat at the kitchen table to have dessert. She told them about her date and about what the gypsy had said.
“I wouldn’t listen to that old gypsy,” Cell told her, “Afterall, if she was so great at setting people up, why isn’t she married?”
Cillia realized her brother had a point but she couldn’t help but feel disappointed. Everyone around her had men in their lives but her. She was hoping to run across a man to settle down with.
“Don’t worry, Cillia,” Michelle tried to reassure her, “You’ve got tons of time to find a man.”
Cillia thought she was right and stopped worrying too much about it.

It was then that Cell suggested, Cillia pledge Beta Eta Pi and move into the house with him. He pointed out that she would meet lots of guys at their parties. In the end Cillia agreed and she moved to Beta Eta Pi with Cell.

Legionella was sad to see her cousin move out. But she did plan to pledge Beta Eta Pi a little later in her colliegate career. Afterall, it was the family fraternity. Legionella once again found solace with Gordon. They had another date. This time Gordon took her to Londoste, a much fancier place. Legionella once again shared a dream date with Gordon.

This time when they said goodnight it was with a lot more passion.

Legionella’s freshman year at Sim State had come to an end and she finally felt as if she was putting her mother’s death behind for the first time.

Simmer’s Note: This will be the last Bacter update for a while. November is National Novel Writing Month and I will be attempting to write a 50,000 word novel in that month. With that being said it could very well be December before their are anymore Bacter updates. Wish me luck.

  4. Glad to see that Legionella feels a bit better since her mother’s death, and that Gordon is helping her through the tough time. What’s going to happen once she graduates and heads back to her hometown though? Can she ever forgive her father or will their relationship be forever doomed?

  5. I loved the dates! And Elmer *snicker* wasn’t that bad looking. Should we be worried about Gordon? I hope he doesn’t take after his father. I hope all that he got from him was his name.
