Passage of Time

Yersinia and Xavier could hardly believe how much their two daughters had grown. Legionella had started high school and had turned into quite a beautiful young woman. Listeria had also started school. After much discussion, a lot of which Legionella had to give her opinion, Yersinia and Xavier decided to have the headmaster of the Legacy Academy over for dinner to see about getting their girls admitted. They had both put it off for various reasons but it seemed the time was right. It was the school Yersinia had gone to and it had prepared her well for college so she could only hope that it would do the same for her daughters.

So, Yersinia and Xavier had Headmaster Ryan over for dinner. Xavier set about giving the headmaster a tour of the house. Headmaster Ryan couldn’t help but comment on how lovely the house was. Xavier pointed out that Yersinia’s late father had built it from nothing and this of course impressed the headmaster even more. Yersinia set out making dinner while Xavier gave the tour. She had decided to make lobster for dinner, something she had never done before. It turned out pretty bad. But remarkably, Headmaster Ryan didn’t seem to notice the funny taste to the lobster and engaged in a lively dinner conversation. Legionella joined her parents for dinner because she figured she could convince the headmaster that she deserved to be in his school.

Headmaster Ryan was more than pleased with the Bacter family and enrolled Legionella and Listeria on the spot. It was hard to tell who was more excited about the enrollment, Legionella or her parents.

Legionella and Listeria weren’t the only ones in the Bacter household who were aging. Xavier was as well and his birthday had come. He was coaching lacrosse now which was good because he was no longer a young man. He hadn’t been real young when he married Yersinia but he definitely had a lot of years ahead of him. No more. His hair had greyed and his step was slower. His birthday had come and it was offical…Xavier had become an elder.

It didn’t seem to make a difference to Yersinia. To her Xavier was still that man she married. She still saw as the man who had brought her out of her shell after the incident with Gordon King. If it hadn’t been for Xavier’s kindness and persistence it is hard to say how her life would have turned out. She owed a lot to Xavier and loved him beyond anything she had every comprehended before. Not only had Xavier helped her overcome what Gordon had done to her, he was also the father of her daughters who she had come to adore.

Of course to Legionella her dad suddenly seemed old. He wasn’t the same dad he had always been. She had noticed things had changed with him. He had taught her to play pool but all of a sudden he didn’t want to play pool with her anymore. In fact, on afternoon they were in the middle of a game and Xavier just stopped playing and walked away from the table and out to the front yard. He just left Legionella standing there holding her cue, confused.

Legionella just stood there staring for a few minutes. She didn’t understand what was going on. She knew that one of her friends from school was coming over but she hadn’t heard a doorbell. Where had her dad gone?

Xavier was glad that Legionella hadn’t followed him. He didn’t want Legionella to know who he was going to meet. Call it a midlife crisis, call it whatever you will but Xavier was doing something he never dreamed he would do. He had abandoned his daughter in the midst of their pool game to meet up with Marylena Hamilton. There was just something about Marylena that he was unable to resist. He knew he was taking a huge risk, Yersinia was home and just inside the house. She was occupied with Listeria though so he figured he was safe. For so long he had resisted Marylena’s advances, no longer. This time when Marylena flirted with him, he flirted right back.

She didn’t seem to mind that he had aged. In fact, Marylena found him to be quite dignified with his greyed hair. Xavier was too busy out in the yard pursuing an elicit relationship with Marylena to notice that Legionella’s friend from school had arrived and Legionella was out in the yard with her friend. If he had noticed this, perhaps he wouldn’t have pulled Marylena too him. If had noticed this, perhaps he would have engaged in the passionate kiss that he did. But he didn’t notice. Legionella on the other hand did.

  1. Oh no! He gave into temptation and his daughter saw him! What will this do to their family? And will Legionella tell her mother what she saw? Poor Yersinia–she loves Xavier so much and I’m sure she’ll be devastated (if she finds out).
Great update…now I can’t wait to find out what happens!

  2. XAVIER?!?!?! How could you do that??? And with your FAMILY at home!!! *WIDE-EYES GASP*

And look at poor Legionella in the background there … gasping in shock. Wait until Yersi learns of his “indiscretion”. My god … this is going to kill her.

  4. That pig!!! Yersinia still doesn’t have the man she deserves! This could be horrible for the family but Xavier needs to be thrown out! You just couldn’t go very long without adding all this drama could you? Since you need that platinum romance stone I guess Xavier’s here to stay. What will you do next?

  6. What? No. Uh uh, no. He’s a horrible creepy old man. I was right back in the beginning, he was creepy then, and he’s still creepy! But now he’s an old creepy cheater who deserves to be thrown out on his butt. And his daughter was right there! Does he have no shame?! Ugh…men!
