Anthracis stared blankly at his phone. What had just happened? He didn’t think that Erin would not invite Lora on purpose. He had been so preoccupied with his term paper that he didn’t double check things. He got up and decided that he would go and talk to Erin.
When he found Erin she was picking up a few of plastic cups left over from the night before. “Good morning!” she said in a chipper voice, “Oooh, you look a little rough around the edges. Want me to make you some breakfast?” Anthracis had hardly slept in several nights and was feeling a bit hung over so he did look a bit frazzled. Food was the last thing on his mind. “No, thanks.” “Okay,” Erin answered, “Let me know if you want anything.” “Okay. Erin, wait.” She had started to leave the room, “Did you notice Lora wasn’t here last night?” Erin worked up her best puzzled face, “You know, I don’t think I did see her.” Anthracis dropped his head into his hands; his head was pounding, “I got a call from her this morning.” “Oh?” said Erin, innocently, “Is that why you are up so early?” “Uh, yeah. Anyway, she said she didn’t know about the party.” “Really?” Erin was trying her best to sound surprised. “You did invite her, right?” “I’m sure I did, but you know, there were so many people to send the invite to that I may have missed her.” Something didn’t seem right to Anthracis. “Well, I think that you might have. I don’t think she would lie about not getting an invite. Just be a little more careful next time. She was pretty upset. She seems to think you did it on purpose.” Erin gasped in mock shock, “I would never do that on purpose.” “I know. I tried to tell her that. I invited her to the toga party just to avoid any confusion.” “Oh good,” Erin sounded a little deflated. “Anyway, I’m going to go try and get some more sleep.” “All right.” Erin figured she had bought herself some time but if she was going to win over Anthracis she had better work fast.
